Oh my socks!

Have I told you how I hate it when lil n started whining? It really pushes my button and I can get crazy just from his whining. I hate seeing lil n demonstrating it each and everyday. I wonder where he got it from and why he would do that to me. It’s so irritating, that on some days I would just sit there and feel pitiful about myself. Why me, God, why me? Please give me cheerful and funny kiddos only, please oh please … whinewhinewhineandwhinesomemore. (God is so funny sometimes! lol)

Today, lil n was joyfully tidying up his toys. He was proud when the living room (also their playroom) was so clean and tidy. He showed off to his papa and me. Being a petty momma, I pointed out a pair of socks that he casually put on the table. I asked him to put them in the laundry basket, then I went to do some other things.

Suddenly, he came back all crying and whinny. I started to feel heat and anger stirred up inside of me. Here were some hints that I gathered from his whining (I am a master of Whinology): “Wrong place, socks, rubbish bin, now it’s gone.” Evil me already thought: “Hahaha. If you keep on crying then it will be gone forever with the rubbish.”

However, the sane momma in me do the SOP of whine correction.
“Can you tell it to me nicely?”
“You know I can help you. But I will only help you if you say it nicely.”

He started to get to his senses after sometime.
“Mama. Please. Help me.” He was still sobbing.
“Yes, dear? What it is?” I answered with fierce tone.
“I.. I threw.. the socks.. into rubbish bin..” Suddenly he burst out laughing hearing himself. I laughed too. It sounded so, so silly.

Sometimes through his whining I can see myself, the reflection of me even until today. Today I (and lil n too i hope!) learn that:

– Whining delays help that you’re going to get
– Whining makes people (me!) angry
– Some things are not worth whining about!
– Some mistakes can be funny!

I am on a mission to be a more joyful momma and to teach the kiddos to be more joyful this year. Good bye, whinny monsters!

on the other note :

My dear lil n, mama sometimes can be so silly, too, to throw the chicken meat and keep the bones when preparing our meal. However, thankfully some things can be cleaned off and we can start anew.

But do keep in mind my lil n dear, there are things that are too precious to be casually thrown away, even though you don’t meant it. That’s why we must be vigilant as always, remembering our purpose in life and be mindful of our actions, so we do not fall into sin.

This remind me of a verse : “So if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you do not fall!” From 1 Cor 10.

Hello 2015

-Full of unexpected surprises and unexpected blessings.
-Few farewells to a couple of dear people, missing them soooo much. God blesses us with friends who stay and courage to make new ones.
-Took a leap of faith to make few major changes in our lives, to stand up for our conviction, come what may. 🙂

Looking forward for exciting 2015!

The piano story

Have you ever had an answered prayer?

Tuhan.. I really hope that there is a kind soul out there who is giving away a good piano.. 🙂

Jam 9 malam, tiba2 ada info kalau ada orang yang mau ngasih pianonya (gratis!). Thank God for this generous family that we don’t even know! Langsunglah buru2 arrange buat piano mover. Amazingly, ada aja yg bantuin malem2, dan lebih amazing lagi. Ternyata si tukang pindahin piano masih bales aja sampe jam 11 malem n confirm buat mindahin piano besok jam 1 siang.

Hari ini, Senin, si piano dateng sekitar jam 1 siang (the mover was early). Pianonya agak tua n kotor, tapi bunyinya masih bagus :,)

Isn’t it amazing that dear God answered the little prayer in 24hours??

Thank You God for the piano.
It is really a symbol to remind us that You hear our prayers and You answer our prayers.

Any tips for taking care of a piano will be appreciated 🙂

more painting..

qq was away for business trip to europe. i was left ALONE in the unfinished house for 1 week+. And this is what i did to the living room..

Ta-Da!! i painted the living room.. (only half – 2 side of walls only, the ones with less surface area, but are more challenging coz they have “curves” here and there and there are 2 doors openings!)

and look what painting has done to my newly painted nails..

some parts got peeled when i washed the paint..

some photos of the painted kitchen cabinet and our Udden tables (<3 love them a lot!)
see how white the cabinet now! =)

with messy stuffs, and can see the green tiles there.. still thinking on what to do to cover the ugly green tiles..
above is the pic of the original color of the kitchen cabinet.. he he he

owh.. im so tired now..

going to sleep soon..

signing off..

Our Kitchen…

During our first visit to the house Ms D already said.. : the kitchen cabinet looks good (the wood color etc) BUT.. it’s so dirty…

Mr Q said : “i don’t like the color.. but it’s still good”

Ms D said : “NO. not good at all”

after we got the house.. our (esp Ms D’s) nightmare began… we had a kitchen cabinet cum la cucarachaS’ nest! we have faced baby cockroach, teenager cockroach, young adult cockroach, mother & father cockroach, pregnant mother cockroach, elderly cockroach… @.@

The first few days cleaning the house was full of shouting (from Ms D) and welcoming surprises from the la cucaracha family, which was not warm at all..

Mr Q still insisted on keeping the cabinets.. But Ms D insisted more.. even pointing the fact that the wood was already spoiled.. like it was soaked in water for many years alrdy. and more cockroaches’re coming out from the gap.. Ms D also rejected the idea to keep the hood and the stove, esp after seeing some la cucaracha coming out from that area, dancing on the top of the stove, some even hide in between the hood’s gap.. Ms D said NO to cleaning the curry-smell and sticky hood… and luckily Mr Q understood why after he himself was forced to removed the hood before we began the whole process of hacking the kitchen…

Ms D was relieved.. but sad at the same time since that means no cooking time for about 3-4 week time.. since we cut the cable for the stove, sealed the doors under the sink (which contains more awaiting surprises to be explored), and yes, we did not have budget to fix the whole thing.. we thought we could just use the existing kitchen.. but we were wrong..

the day has come… equipped with Bosch drill & crowbar & 2 brave souls.. we begin the process of hacking the then beautiful kitchen..

our battlefield on 24-25 May 2008

On the left was the kitchen cabinet (some of the doors are taken already).. Looks good? well, look could be deceiving. or maybe not.. it was good.. until some cockroach family decided to move in and treat it as their castle..

on the floor was the Baygon, insect killer. every one move that we made, we must sprayed some blessings to the cockroach.. so that they would not surprise us.. we learned that the pregnant mothers were the strongest. They refused to gave up to the smell, and only after some fights and some shouting and some escape that we managed to kill the mother (and the babies inside). the power of mothers…

btw we used almost 2 bottles of baygon already.. just for this kitchen… haiz… we forgot to count how many cockroach we encountered..

the most amazing thing was that we (Mr Q) managed to shifted the whole 2 metre kitchen cabinet without dismantling it.. (since we could not dismantle it haha). we pushed it all the way from kitchen, through the living room, to outside, passing the 3 step “stairs”. The victim of the abuse was the kitchen floor.. it was scratched quite badly.. (2 long scratches)

after that .. we decided that we could not carry the whole thing down… it was quite late in the afternoon already. the next day (monday) Mr Q called town council who gave this contact of a worker, who then removed the whole thing for $30…

spend quite some time to clean the kitchen…. but we’re grateful that we could remove it before our family come 2 days later (wednesday) 🙂

a little personal sharing.. we were really helpless about our kitchen.. we did not know that the story touched one dear friend of us.. who decided to “donate” some money for us to fix it.. really surprised & we did not expect that.. and we (esp Ms D) felt like fainting once we knew abt it… it was a thoughtful act.. really..

well.. maybe in the near future we would renovate the kitchen, dear? (qn from Ms D to Mr Q ^^) no need a built in cabinet.. just an open concept kitchen which is less expensive & easier to be cleaned..
